JERICHO VALJUSTO VAMENTA

majored in Visual Communications at the University of the Philippines. A painter and sculptor, his works navigate the fine line between the sensual and the violent in the shape and structure of flesh. Vamenta’s vision and rendition of the subject matter suggest that the precarious (and often disturbing) relationship between the two is inherent in the human form.

Vamenta is the 2011 Grand Prize winner of the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence for his entry in Oil on Canvas. He also bagged the Grand Prize at the 2012 Philip Morris Art Awards. He is known for his meticulous implementation of sgraffito.
